Accuracy of men’s perceptions of women’s sexual interest

Do men know or sense or realize if a woman is interested in them? The clear answer is, mostly NOT.

This study and many other ones have proven the same thing. Men put more weight to physical looks than women do while women put more weight to personality and resources than men do. But dont really understand or better to say cannot really read the body language of women.

Researchers from Iowa University found out that:

“183 undergraduate males judged the sexual interest of women in full-body photographs; the women varied along sexual interest, clothing style, and attractiveness dimensions. Half of the participants received feedback on their ratings. In a related transfer task, participants indicated whether women in photographs would respond positively to a sexual advance. History of sexual aggression and rape-supportive attitudes were assessed. Results: Participants relied substantially on both affective and nonaffective cues when judging women’s sexual interest. High-risk men relied less on affect and more on attractiveness. Feedback enhanced focus on women’s affective cues and decreased focus on nonaffective cues for both low-risk and high-risk men. Feedback affected transfer performance indirectly, via altered cue usage in the training task. Conclusions: The current work documents high-risk men’s altered focus on women’s affective and nonaffective cues and provides encouraging support for the potential use of a cognitive-training paradigm to enhance men’s perceptions of women’s sexual-interest cues, albeit to a lesser degree for high-risk men. Relationship between nightmares and a tight jaw

More and more people suffer from their tight jaw. One result causes teeth problems. So people visit a dentist `cause they are aware of these problems and not of the chronically tensed jaw. Mostly the dentists don`t know the reason for the teeth problems. So they call this syndrome “bruxisme”. People feel some kind of a respect towards such a diagnosis and follow the dentist`s indication for a while. But as there is no real change they stop.

By the way “bruxisme” only means teeth crunching. Using a Greek labeling the diagnosis sounds important. But ………..

If you marry a Chinese woman, then be prepared 😉

There’s an interesting and astonishing effect when marrying with a Chinese woman. Quite often when I talked to western men who married a Chinese woman, most of them agreed to the observed effect, which is like this:

Before the marriage Chinese women more often seem to be restrained, friendly, a little shy, ………

The skín is the message 5 – The wish to be seen as resistance to the feeling of shame

Maybe you remember my experience in the underground of Berlin some dweeks ago. I had seen a couple having tattoos. When trying to look at the tattoos, because I got interested in the symbols which I could see even from the distance, the man addressed me in quite an aggressive way. He did not want to be seen, though having his tattoos uncovered so that everybody in the underground could see them.

So that everybody had to see them.

This experience again made me be aware of a paradox in our media society: There is a broad interest in to be seen, a deep longing for to be seen and a lot of activities to be seen. BUT on the one hand often the moment when someone is seen on TV or is so short that it is soon forgotten again. And on the other hand people react quite strange when they are seen, when someone really is interested in what they see.

This reminds me also of the feedback when people ……………..

Tattoo and shame

It happened about two weeks ago when I travelled by underground in Berlin. It was a hot summer day. People wore light clothing so that I could see very clearly that someone sitting opposite to me had a tattoo on his shoulder. The man sitting together obviously with his girlfriend, arm in arm, had many very colourful and artificial painted tattoos on his shoulder and his neck. I began to look more intensely to those tattoos and tried to find out what they symbolised, and what the symbols were saying to me.

When it happened just on a sudden that this man addressed me obviously quite aggressive with the words: “Why are you staring at me? What are you looking for?” Meanwhile his girl-friend tried to cover her own tattoo. You can imagine how astonished I was about this reaction. I felt very friendly looking, I felt in a good mood admiring those paintings on the body. And I felt very interested in trying to decrypt the shown symbols.

Of course I right away realized the slightly aggressive tone in the man’s voice. Of course I felt rejected ………….
