The visual competence is also based on gender and sex

Nonverbal communication and body reading as an ability to be aware of the other is radically based on the competence of awareness. Scientific research shows that this competence is rooted in (brain) physiology on the other hand. And related to experience on the other hand. Experience so to say is closely connected with the surrounding context, society and cultural factors.

To see, so to say, means not to see. And not to see means …………

Touched by the shadow

The dark red rose decorates a little girl’s hand while the girl’s eyes dive into the rose’s flavor. Both, the girl and the dark red rose, form a meaningful unit of presence, awareness, being in touch with each other and thus creating reality.

The girl of course is in love with this little boy whose shadow leans towards her. It is an emotional reality with the unspoken message “You’re here when you’re not here. You’re here when I want you to be here and you are near when I’m aware of this beautiful dark rose.”

Of course one would say the little boy is not there. It is……………………

Silence as dialogue – 默克尔访华:沉默的对话

I know about one big handicape of my blog. It is the language. It took me some time to find my decision, namely to choose English and not German or Chinese or any other language.

English is ranked as world language number One. It is spoken all over the world. But not everybody of course speaks English. And even when someone has learnt English at shool, maybe he or she is not familiar in speaking the language.

This not a problem. Really. You speak the language you like to speak. But how to write in an international blog on intercultural communication? ……………….

Double homesickness

some days ago I by chance visited an open air festival of the German-Indonesian society in Cologne. Delicious meals, nice presents to buy, music, friendly talking people and the chance to have a little neck massage. It was a woman from the isle of Bali who offered the massage. She all about the ancient tradition of Balinese massage so I was glad to have again the chance to get such a good massage.
While doing the massage she talked about her life. She had some children, grand children and grandmother in the age of 93 who lived on Bali.

Tea without Milk: impossible

it is not enough to understand the words you have to experience in order to learn

When I visited India for the first time I really enjoyed nature, culture and of course the people. Especially in South-India, where I stayed for quite a long time, I always felt invited when visiting little villages or asking for a cup of tea in some family-house. They served English tea of course, that means strong tea with a lot of milk and sugar. I like English tea, it feels so smooth in the mouth. 😉

I love this sweetness of English tea and was really glad, that this kind of tea would be served within a minute. But one day within a second I felt shocked by the Indian version of the English tea. Of course they served strong tea with milk and sugar, but the milk ………………

A dream is a dream, is not a dream……

Once upon a time………………

There was this morning when I got up still being fascinated by a dream and still caught by the deep feeling without knowing what was going on in me and what had happened during the night.

You must know I don’t dream so often or better to say I don’t remember what I dream. I know dreams are part of night life. Dreams of course are some space of mysterious experience while we sleep. Dreams are so to say the dynamics of the inner-body which …………….

Knowing is knowing not to know

When I went to India for the first time 1976 I wanted to explore the country, to get accustomed to the people and the culture. As people in India speak English it was quite easy for me to communicate. By doing this my interest grew to learn more about what happens in society, in politics and in rural life.

By talking I of course also tried to let the other know what my knowledge of …………..
